BIOGRAPHY

Benjamin Kwame Asante is the Director of Petroleum Upstream at Ghana’s Ministry of Energy. His career started at Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) as a National Service Person in 1989, where he has 30 years experience, rising to the position of General Manager responsible for Geosciences. His extensive experience includes planning and execution of seismic data acquisition and interpretation, prospect generation, well-site geological duties, promotion of the hydrocarbon potential of Ghana’s Basins, negotiation of Petroleum Agreements and providing technical & financial information on exploration and appraisal activities required by GNPC’s Partners, Petroleum Commission and/or the Ministry of Energy.

Mr. Asante holds a Master’s degree in Hydrocarbon Exploration from the University of Aberdeen (Scotland), Post Graduate Diploma in Exploration Geophysics from the University of Trondheim (Norway), and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana). He also holds a law degree (LLB, Hons) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
